What are wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth are technically your third set of molars. They begin to appear between the ages of 17 and 25, but some people may never develop them at all.

Should my wisdom teeth be removed?
It’s usually necessary to remove wisdom teeth if they are impacted, which means they can’t fully erupt into the mouth because other teeth block them. When impacted, the wisdom teeth may start growing at an awkward angle. This can result in symptoms like:

What happens during my appointment?
Dr. Farzaneh and his team perform the wisdom teeth removal procedure while you’re under sedation. He is licensed to administer general anesthesia to patients, so you’ll begin the procedure safely under his expert care and knowledge.
Once you’re under sedation, Dr. Farzaneh makes an incision in the gum tissue to access the wisdom teeth. He may need to remove bone to reach the roots of the wisdom teeth.
Using small, surgical instruments, he removes the wisdom teeth and cleans the empty tissue of any debris. He closes the gum tissue with sutures and puts gauze over the area to manage any bleeding.
What can I expect after the procedure?
You might experience some bleeding or oozing from the extraction sites, and some people may need to manage discomfort with over-the-counter pain relievers. Slight swelling and bruising for a few days after the procedure is normal.
Your mouth heals naturally, and you can continue with any necessary dental work as soon as Dr. Farzaneh deems it safe.
